For instance, the light weight, curvy edges, one button, and all that stuff makes it shine. However, I am right now more concerned in looking at what's inside.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
The Motorola Xoom tablet houses the Dual Core 1GHz processor which gives it more power. I cannot remember any android tablet or phone having a dual core processor.<br />
There was once a time when people did now know what was inside their phone and now, everyone is concerned about what type of processor they have in their phone or tablet.<br />
<br />
However, the iPad 2 on the other side has same processor which gives it even more power. However, in matter of customization, the android beats the iOS. For instance, the arrival of the new Honeycomb concept in Android gives it endless customization possibilities. The Motorola Xoom tablet also has tabbed web browsing which is really elegant for a tablet pc.<br />
<br />
I had my hands on the Motorola Xoom tablet and it was really smooth. However, it is heavier than the iPad and is thicker too. However, being an android developer, I'll be more concerned about the inside technical specs and the overlying operating system.<br />
<br />
The new honeycomb concept is really innovative. I'd say that it gives android an entire new look. I was eager to try out some new games but unfortunately, it had none. Since the android tablet market is still young, you should expect games crowding over the android marketplace for tablets, soon.<br />
<br />
Also, the Motorola Xoom has 4G technology built in and hence when it comes, you are ready for it!<br />
<br />
Apple iPad has its own market already developed. However, Its price may be a big concern for shoppers.<br />
<br />
Motorola Xoom 32GB (4G) is available off-contract for <span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 27px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">£480</span></span> while the iPad 2 32 GB(with 3G) from apple is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 15px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">£579.00</span></span>.<br />
<br />
Well, the price of iPad 2 is a big concern here and hence, I would go straight for the Motorola Xoom!<div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-54864331607557622742011-04-09T09:47:00.000-07:002011-04-09T09:47:58.865-07:00JAVA Tutorial - Designing a Basic Graphical User Interface (GUI) Part 1 - Session 5<div><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/35N6eeG2MW0" title="YouTube video player" width="480"></iframe></div><div>Fifth session outlines basic knowledge about designing a graphical user interface in java.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-64897735928240951012011-04-01T16:39:00.000-07:002011-04-01T16:39:27.530-07:00JAVA Tutorial - Advanced Decisions and loops - Session 4<iframe width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FmlOWHpUKM8?fs=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-74889414211688400002011-03-31T13:58:00.001-07:002011-04-30T16:31:50.466-07:00JAVA Tutorial - Making Basic Decisions(If and Else if) - Session 3<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/faPzWAgP3Us" width="480"></iframe><div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-72519897347478767882011-03-31T13:58:00.000-07:002011-04-09T09:50:29.875-07:00JAVA Tutorial - Basic Variables - Session 2<div>Here goes another session!</div><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/73sLl48Vj_M" title="YouTube video player" width="480"></iframe><div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-61961943911321731792011-03-31T13:57:00.000-07:002011-04-09T09:49:43.984-07:00JAVA Tutorial - Introduction with Hello World! - Session 1<div>Well, I have finally started broadcasting my online java tutorials. This is fairly easy to understand and once you get hold of it, then whatever comes next, will be easy for you. Variables are like containers of information. However, a variable is specific container of information. For instance, if a variable has been specified to hold numbers, it will only hold numbers. Once defined, variable cannot change its type. Lets get started with this to understand in detail.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Lets design a program that adds two numbers. For this, you will have to ask one number from user, store it somewhere, ask another, store it again somewhere, add the two, and display the result. Fairly easy, isn't it? In order to do this, you will have to define three variables. The first one will hold the first number, second one will hold second number, and the third one will hold the addition of two. In order to make this simple, for now, lets not allow the user to enter decimals. This program will only allow whole numbers. For this, we have to define variables as 'integers'. When we define a variable as integer, it only allows user to type in numbers and not decimals. We can define the variables like this:</div><br />
<pre><div style="text-align: justify;">
</div><span color:#000000;="" monospaced",monospace;="" pre;"="" white-space:=""><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #0000e6;"> int</span> value1;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="color: #0000e6;">int</span> value2;</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="color: #0000e6;">int</span> sum;</div></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><a name='more'></a></div></pre><!--EndFragment--><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">From the above, you might have noticed that, in java, the format of defining variables is:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><datatype> <variablename>;</variablename></datatype></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Here, since data type is integer, we write 'int'. However, you can have any name as variable name. In this case, in order to make it simpler, variable name is value1. Be sure that you keep the variable name simpler so that it is easy for you to understand later on. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Notice that every line ends with a semi-colon. In java, to terminate statements, semi-colon is used. This is actually beneficial because you can also write the above statement, in order to save space, as:</div><br />
<pre style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span color:#000000;="" monospaced",monospace;="" pre;"="" white-space:=""><span style="color: #0000e6;"> int</span> value1; <span style="color: #0000e6;">int</span> value2; <span style="color: #0000e6;">int</span> sum;
</span></pre><div style="text-align: justify;">Observe that in above line, variables value1, value2 and sum have same data type. Hence, they can be defined as:</div><div><pre style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span color:#000000;="" monospaced",monospace;="" pre;"="" white-space:=""><span style="color: #0000e6;"> int</span> value1, value2, sum;</span></pre></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Assigning values to variables is easy. Values can be assigned to variables while defining them. However, you can also assign values afterwards, like:</div><div><pre style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span color:#000000;="" monospaced",monospace;="" pre;"="" white-space:=""><span style="color: #0000e6;"> int</span> value1=50, value2, sum; //value assigned while defining variables</span></pre><pre style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span color:#000000;="" monospaced",monospace;="" pre;"="" white-space:=""> value2=25; //value assigned after defining them</span></pre></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Primarily, there are four data types:</div><div style="text-align: justify;">1. int</div><div style="text-align: justify;">2. byte</div><div style="text-align: justify;">3. long</div><div style="text-align: justify;">4. float</div><div style="text-align: justify;">5. double</div><div style="text-align: justify;">6. boolean</div><div style="text-align: justify;">7. char</div><div style="text-align: justify;">8. string</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://www.roseindia.net/java/language/java-data-types.shtml">Click here to know more about JAVA data types.</a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">These all have some advantages/disadvantages of their own. Lets continue with our program. Analyse the lines below:</div><br />
<div><pre><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #969696;">/*</span></div><span color:#000000;="" monospaced",monospace;="" pre;"="" white-space:=""><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #969696;"> * To change this template, choose Tools | Templates</span></div><span style="color: #969696;"> * and open the template in the editor.

<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div></span></pre><!--EndFragment--></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Notice the underlined lines. From top, the first underlined line is statement for importing a java library. JOptionPane helps us with GUI input and output. In order to accept values from user, we need to show an input dialog box to user. In this case, we have to use a built-in library that java provides. Second and third underlined lines are assignment lines. Here, an input dialog is shown to user, in which user inputs the data. Since by default, whatsoever user enters is string, we have to convert it to integer data type. Hence the statement Integer.parseInt is used. This method can convert almost any string to integer. The fourth underlined line is for calculating sum. Here, variable 'sum' is assigned value of addition of 'value1' and 'value2'. Fifth underlined line is for showing the output to user. In this case, the output is in format of string. Notice that I do not have to convert integer to string in this line because java understands this automatically and does it for us.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ok! Time to compile. This will lead you to page where you will have to select your operating system. Now, for programming in JAVA, you do not need to worry about operating systems because JAVA is a neutral language so, a program made in JAVA can be run equally on any other operating system where JAVA Virtual Machine is installed. Windows, Linux (almost all distros), and Mac OS X, all have built in JAVA Virtual Machine and so a JAVA program, built on Windows can be run on Linux as well as on Mac OS X without reprogramming or reconfiguring it.</div> <div style="text-align: justify">After selecting your operating system, JAVA SDK will start downloading. Learn to shorten links<p>In this tutorial, I’m going to talk about shortening the URLs. Sometimes, URLs can be too long to fit into your twitter updates. In that case, you will need to shorten them so that you can associate more text with it. There are few services which will allow you to shorten your link/URL. In my view, among all, 4 are best. They are:</p> <a name='more'></a> <table border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" width="400"> <tbody> <tr> <td valign="top" width="200"> <p>bit.ly</p></td> <td valign="top" width="200"> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2ggpTmqBI/AAAAAAAAATY/RZTu_vI1OjU/s1600-h/bit.lyScreenshot%5B2%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="bit.lyScreenshot" border="0" alt="bit.lyScreenshot" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2gi3kpYbI/AAAAAAAAATc/WYnilKzFENI/bit.lyScreenshot_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="170"></a></p></td></tr> <tr> <td valign="top" width="200">tiny.cc</td> <td valign="top" width="200"> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2gnY4A8vI/AAAAAAAAATg/ihmV7rYyfnU/s1600-h/tiny.cc%5B2%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="tiny.cc" border="0" alt="tiny.cc" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2goo8MVAI/AAAAAAAAATk/NVTkjl26uOQ/tiny.cc_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="174"></a></p></td></tr> <tr> <td valign="top" width="200">ow.ly</td> <td valign="top" width="200"> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2grXw00aI/AAAAAAAAATo/Lj8WC3Rzvrs/s1600-h/ow.ly%5B2%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ow.ly" border="0" alt="ow.ly" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2guH8KKKI/AAAAAAAAATs/WNteCjgp2Fk/ow.ly_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="137"></a></p></td></tr> <tr> <td valign="top" width="200">is.gd</td> <td valign="top" width="200"> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2g6_5bNaI/AAAAAAAAATw/0LoM9kJUpiM/s1600-h/is.gd%5B2%5D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="is.gd" border="0" alt="is.gd" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TI2g9hAs-SI/AAAAAAAAAT0/jpQR3thmAnk/is.gd_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="127"></a></p></td></tr></tbody></table> <p>I consider these four services when it comes to shortening my links because they are smart and efficient. </p> <p>In order to test them, I used link to homepage of Dixplore blog which is at <a href="http://dixplore.blogspot.com/index.html">http://dixplore.blogspot.com/index.html</a></p> <p>Bit.ly shortened my URL to 20 characters as <a title="http://bit.ly/9Ftqf5" href="http://bit.ly/9Ftqf5">http://bit.ly/9Ftqf5</a> and I’m quite satisfied with that because it actually compressed my 39 character home page URL. However, If I want to check my stats for bit.ly url or If I want to check number of people who actually clicked the bit.ly url, then I’ll have to sign up for that and that’s what I really don’t like about this service.</p> <p>Tiny.cc did the same as bit.ly but in tiny.cc I can use my own custom URL which sounds great to me. So, I gave it a try and after several attempts, I finally compressed my home page URL to 17 characters (<a title="http://tiny.cc/zj" href="http://tiny.cc/zj">http://tiny.cc/zj</a>)! However, for custom URL, you will have to make lot of attempts because there may be a case where the URL might be taken by someone else. Another good thing about this service is that it keeps track of the URLs that you have shortened and thus making it easier for future access. However, I think analyzing the URLs might also need signing up.</p> <p>Ow.ly was great because it automatically shortened the URL to 18 characters without any kind of customization and just for that reason, I prefer it more. However, you will need to pass a captcha in order to shorten a URL and that might seem annoying if you have to shorten too many URLs.</p> <p>Is.gd is great if you want fast short URLs because it’s low graphics web page makes it load faster and since you don’t have to pass any captcha, the process gets even faster than others. Like Ow.ly, Is.gd automatically shortened my URL to 18 characters and It even shows that it made my URL 21 characters (54%) shorter!</p> <p> </p> <p>All these service work great for twitter users and is must for those who share their websites with other people on twitter.</p> <div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div> <div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-76499269566757192422010-09-09T20:31:00.001-07:002010-09-09T20:31:59.674-07:00Video–Add a page to PDF<p>I’ve finally made it! <strong>Zedge:</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIUoC7lv3aI/AAAAAAAAASk/BuKLN1WeZSE/s1600-h/ZedgeScreenshot%5B4%5D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="ZedgeScreenshot" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIUoD3xp8II/AAAAAAAAASo/GT_9g4rMiq4/ZedgeScreenshot_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="ZedgeScreenshot" width="146" /></a>This is my personal favorite and I would recommend it to not only iPhone users but to everybody who uses cell phone. I've never seen such a great website before. The site is built especially for mobile phones and is accessible at m.zedge.com (in mobile) and <a href="http://www.zedge.com/">www.zedge.com</a> (computer). The website has elegant design with easy to use navigation. Zedge practically supports all mobile phones. You can download ringtones, wallpapers, themes, videos, games and text messages. However, I did not find any applications available for mobile users. The website supports iPhone but does not provide games for iPhone users and I know that's pretty embarrassing. However, you can find wallpapers and themes formatted especially for iPhone. I did find many iPhone formatted videos but most of them were forcefully converted without taking care of the aspect ratio. So, the videos looked too broad or too narrow.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
The reason why I like Zedge so much is because of the quality of rich tools it provides. Zedge gives it's visitors full freedom to do the thing of their own choice. There's a voice maker which allows you to type a text, select voice and add background music. Zedge sandwiches everything for you and presents you with a beautiful ringtone. Similarly, you can make screensavers, wallpapers, themes or even personalize your phone using screensaver maker, wallpaper maker, theme maker and personalizer. I find these tools very innovative and are really the best around. You can become member of Zedge community for free and then you can upload your own creations to present the world.<br />
<br />
<strong>Mobile9:</strong><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIUoFRbFJuI/AAAAAAAAASs/sqdkmoK_V-o/s1600-h/mobile9Screenshot%5B8%5D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="mobile9Screenshot" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIUoGAfSqXI/AAAAAAAAASw/Efr5itFoxFY/mobile9Screenshot_thumb%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="mobile9Screenshot" width="133" /></a>Mobile9 also provides two of the tools which Zedge provides and they are wallpaper creator and ringtone creator but unfortunately, you need to be a member (free) of the Mobile9 community to access those. But same as Zedge, Mobile9 does not provide games/apps for iPhone. Thats because 3rd party apps aren't available on the site. I think they should make it available for jail broken iPhones or else, they should feature some of the apps from App Store. However, Mobile9 does show softwares available for download even though iPhone is selected as current phone, which I think is a flaw and they should immediately do something about it. The most annoying thing for this website is that even though you have selected your phone, it asks you to select your phone again when you click on any link such as 'Apple wallpapers'. In spite of this, the website displays link 'Are you looking for <your phone> wallpapers?' which would take you directly to the page displaying your content. However, I still find interface of Zedge more easy to use because it is standard and direct.<br />
The reason for selecting Mobile9 as a website for iPhone users is that it allows you to post your problems online and notifies you as soon as somebody replies to your question. In this way, the site helps you to solve your problems just as Yahoo answers does. This facility is available on the following link:<br />
<a href="http://phone.mobile9.com/answers/">http://phone.mobile9.com/answers/</a><br />
I think that Zedge should include this feature as well in order to increase the productivity of their website.<br />
<br />
From my point of view, Zedge is the best in case you want to fully customize your mobile phone but if you want to solve your problems really quickly, then Mobile9 is the best place because it's discussion forums are focused only on mobile whereas Yahoo answers is an all round discussion forum in which selecting a wrong category of your question might leave your question unanswered forever.<div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-53777560536251231652010-09-06T04:40:00.001-07:002010-09-06T10:45:50.632-07:00Android stealing Apples? are they losing it?<div align="justify">From my point of view, iPhone is a revolutionary product. Apple designed this product keeping in mind the touch screen market. When iPhone was released, entire mindset that people had for touch screen phones was changed by the company. People then started looking Windows CE phones as slow operating systems with no real compatibility for touch screens because they all needed a stylus. Then HTC came up with custom UIs but still the inner core of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating systems had to be changed.</div><div align="justify">Android is operating system for touch screen mobile phones made to compete with iPhone market. It had all the features that other touch screen OSes did not had. However, Google managed to keep the prices for Android OSes low so as to target average customer. </div><div align="justify">Today, Android’s HTC EVO is capable of competing with iPhone 4.</div><div align="center"><img alt="HTC Desire.jpg" height="169" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/08/HTC_Desire.jpg/250px-HTC_Desire.jpg" width="124" /><img alt="File:IPhone 4.jpg" height="152" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e6/IPhone_4.jpg" width="156" /><img alt="File:HTC Wildfire.jpg" height="186" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/89/HTC_Wildfire.jpg" width="186" /></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div align="justify">Apple, really made a breakthrough when they told everyone about the iPhone 4 because at that time, I think there was no phone that could do HD 720p recording of videos or could really do facetime. Everyone was bubbling with excitement. But when Apple really did released the mobile, the excitement was lost. Apple did gave what they told, but they also gave what they did not tell. The antenna problem. No one would like to have a smart phone with 720p recording, 1GHz A4 processor and more awesome features that would drop calls and lose reception. This is the point of advantage for Androids. Apple did everything right but just one wrong (in doing right) which will I think steal their market. Android releases the 2.2 update and now the 3.0 update which seems a breakthrough. Devices like HTC Desire, HTC Wildfire are just as capable as iPhone 4 and what’s more? They don’t drop calls!</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Whenever I go to the electronic mall, now-a-days, I see people’s increased interest in Android phones because they are cheaper and more customizable. You can’t change iPhone’s UI but everyone’s android is distinct and different because of loads of customizable options available. This does not mean that apple’s making bad phones but I think that the external antenna move was awkward and wrong.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">I hope that the next iPhone version makes a mark in the world of touchscreens!</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-23672279655338681162010-09-05T22:36:00.001-07:002010-09-06T04:41:08.094-07:00How to enhance the glassy effect in Adobe Photoshop?If you haven’t read my tutorial about making glassy buttons, please refer to:<br />
<ol><li><a href="http://dixplore.blogspot.com/2010/08/how-to-make-rounded-glass-button-in.html" target="_blank">How to make rounded glass button in Adobe Photoshop?</a></li>
<li><a href="http://dixplore.blogspot.com/2010/08/how-to-make-rounded-rectanglesquare.html" target="_blank">How to make rounded rectangle/square glass button in Adobe Photoshop CS4?</a></li>
</ol>Making these buttons is really easy and giving simple glassy effects is also easy. In this article, I’m going to show you how you can enhance the glassy effect given in the above tutorials.<br />
<br />
In the tutorial ‘<a href="http://dixplore.blogspot.com/2010/08/how-to-make-rounded-glass-button-in.html" target="_blank">How to make rounded glass button in Adobe Photoshop?</a>’ refer to step 15 and 16. These steps are meant for those who want to show as if the light is flowing from bottom to top. However, you can change this by drawing the gradient from top to bottom. This affects the lighting conditions and thus, you will have to make sure that your shadow is lying at the bottom of button.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Lets talk about ‘<a href="http://dixplore.blogspot.com/2010/08/how-to-make-rounded-rectanglesquare.html">How to make rounded rectangle/square glass button in Adobe Photoshop CS4?</a>’ tutorial. In steps 16 and 17, we simply filled the curve figure with white paint. However, as in above, we can set the gradient form top to bottom in order to show the same fainted light effect coming from top.<br />
<br />
This way, we can enhance the glassy effect to much larger extent.<div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-52836677684781193712010-09-04T22:17:00.001-07:002010-09-09T20:41:15.669-07:00How to add a page to a PDF?<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIMnxW-mTzI/AAAAAAAAARM/e9MOSJRh0FI/s1600-h/HowTos3.png"><img align="right" alt="HowTos" border="0" height="69" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIMnyCSDBVI/AAAAAAAAARQ/4-oL-QmXvGY/HowTos_thumb1.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="HowTos" width="240" /></a> <br />

<li>Open the document that you want to convert to PDF. Your document can be any file that can be printed. You can also convert an image/presentation/database to PDF format because it can be printed. In this tutorial, I am going to use a text file called Events.txt as a sample to show you how its done. Follow similar steps for other documents to convert them to PDF. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNlWI8ANI/AAAAAAAAAQQ/cXJXSA2t0Ec/s1600-h/image8.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="199" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNmJEsCoI/AAAAAAAAAQU/X28AcJbQZDI/image_thumb2.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Since this file has been opened in notepad, go to File>Print. If you are using any other document editor other than notepad, then some how bring the print screen. Print option is usually available in the File menu. In case of Microsoft Office products, click on the Office button to see the print option. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNm8jOQII/AAAAAAAAAQY/78LyarY5bcc/s1600-h/image11.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="218" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNnrhNXBI/AAAAAAAAAQc/3flUZtzgKh0/image_thumb3.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="213" /></a> </li>
<li>Select PrimoPDF as printer. For that just click on PrimoPDF, which is listed among other available printers. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNor_E_4I/AAAAAAAAAQg/wTshPOJkwwg/s1600-h/image14.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="220" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNpzZ_OWI/AAAAAAAAAQk/ER5iF6buJjM/image_thumb4.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Select range of pages which you want to convert. If you want to convert entire document, just select all. </li>
<li>Now that you have selected the pages that you want to convert, click Print to convert the document. </li>
<li>If your document is large, then have patience, another window will pop up in a moment. After a while, you will see following window that will help you to customize your upcoming PDF document. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNsS_uM9I/AAAAAAAAAQo/oahXzpa6tN4/s1600-h/image17.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="157" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHNtyXbpuI/AAAAAAAAAQs/8YnFl3pXL74/image_thumb5.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>There are four tabs available, each helping you to determine the quality of upcoming PDF. <br />
<ol><li>Screen: Compresses all files so that the PDF becomes suitable for on screen viewing. So, if you are going to view the upcoming PDF only on screen, then select this option. </li>
<li>Print: If you are going to print the upcoming PDF, then select this option because this retains the images present in your PDF so that in print, they seem beautiful. However, file size increases. </li>
<li>eBook: Compresses images so that the file size does not increase, retaining the quality. This option is for those who want to use their PDF as eBook for distribution. </li>
<li>Prepress: Nothing in PDF is compressed and thus retaining quality of all the images. However, this makes your PDF large in size. Hence you get high quality PDF suitable for press printing. </li>
<li>Custom: This allows you to fine tune settings for compression, resolution etc. of your PDF. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHN0SwzCHI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/WogsCTfvmqg/s1600-h/image20.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="202" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHN1Yv0U7I/AAAAAAAAAQ4/unF-s007wTI/image_thumb6.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
</ol></li>
<li>You can also change the document properties by clicking on Change option. This allows you to give title, subject and keywords to your PDF document. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHN2PLF8eI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/xcuXQS8-cK4/s1600-h/image23.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="205" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHN22O4UkI/AAAAAAAAARA/YSUds7tI0AU/image_thumb7.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>You can also set security for your PDF document by clicking on Change button beside it. This allows you to set a password which PDF reader asks before opening the document. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHN4MIHsAI/AAAAAAAAARE/y0elmxaNls4/s1600-h/image26.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TIHN4zGER4I/AAAAAAAAARI/G0rHvaDNjZ8/image_thumb8.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="229" /></a> </li>
<li>Set the Save as path to location where you want your PDF to be stored. You can also set Post process which happens after the PDF has been created. </li>
<li>At last click ‘Create PDF’ to create your PDF. </li>
</ol>In this way, you can convert any document from any document editor to PDF. In this post, I have mentioned steps for a text file. If you have any other file, then only step 3 changes because in other application, print option may not be available in file menu. However, all other steps remain same.<br />

This can only happen if there’s a virus problem or serious driver problem. So, lets get started!</div><div align="justify">First of all, start your computer. If it does not boot, then it should display some kind of warning message or something. In most of the cases, it says that some abc.sys driver is missing or corrupted. This might be a virus problem. If your system is Windows XP, then use your XP installation disk. Shut down your computer. If it does not shut down normally, simply pull the power cord or press and hold the button which starts your computer. Pop in the Windows XP installation disk and start your computer. Windows XP setup should start automatically. As soon as it loads the setup files, press ‘R’ on your keyboard. This should take you to Windows Recovery Console. Get the command prompt. Now, get the file that is missing on your computer from your friend’s computer or from the internet, put it on a pen drive and now, at this point, connect the pen drive to your computer. Type the volume name of your pendrive followed by ‘:’. For example, if your pen drive was named F: prior to this problem, then type F:. This should change the prompt from C:> to F:>. If it does not, try other combinations like G:, H:, D:, E: etc. Now assuming you kept the file on your pen drive directly (without making any folder) type the following command:</div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify"><span style="background-color: black; color: white;">copy “abc.sys” “C:\Windows\System32\”</span></div><div align="justify"><em>(Here replace abc.sys to the name of the driver that is missing or corrupted)</em></div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">If it asks to overwrite the file, simply press ‘y’. Now restart your computer.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">If everything worked well, then your computer should boot up correctly.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">If your computer still does not start, then there’s another way to start it. <strong>Also, if you are not comfortable with Windows Recovery Console, then you can use the following way to start your computer.</strong></div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">For this, you will need Live CD of any linux distribution. There are lot of distros of linux available but from all, I would suggest <a href="http://www.ubuntu.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Ubuntu</span></a> because of its ease of use and simplicity. </div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">For that, visit <a href="http://www.ubuntu.com/">www.ubuntu.com</a>, click on download link and follow the instructions that suite you. You can prepare Live CD on CD or USB pen drive. I would recommend you to make it on pen drive because computers can access pen drives faster than CDs.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Read the download page thoroughly before downloading. I think that your download will be around 685 MB if you are using USB as option or 699 MB if you are using CD as option.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">After downloading the Live CD and after you’ve made it on USB Pen drive, connect the pen drive to your computer. If you have made Live CD on a CD, then pop in the CD and start your computer.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">As soon as the BIOS screen appears, repeatedly press F1/F2/F10/DEL/ESC until the BIOS setup appears. You should see something like Boot options. You need to edit the Boot Order. Depending on your computer, and how your USB key was formatted, you should see an entry for "removable drive" or "USB media" or “CD”. Move this to the top of the list to force the computer to attempt to boot from USB/CD before booting from the hard disk. Save your settings and exit. This usually restarts your computer. </div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">After the computer starts, do not press any key and keep the USB drive/CD connected to your computer. This usually takes some time and you should soon see main menu. In that, select ‘Live CD’. This starts the Linux operating system. Since you have connected other pen drive containing the missing/corrupted driver file, you should see the pen drive name on your linux desktop. Double-click on it and an explorer window opens. Now open your hard drive by clicking ‘Places>(HardDrive)’ where (HardDrive) is the name of your windows file system hard drive. This opens the windows hard drive in explorer. Locate Windows/System32 folder and drag and drop the file from your USB to the windows file system hard drive. Now, shut down your linux operating system and disconnect your pen drive/remove your CD after the computer shuts down completely. </div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Start your computer again and this time, your good operating system should work correctly. Suppose this does not work, then we will have to assume that this is a virus problem. In such a case, you will need to do all the alternative steps mentioned above but instead of copying driver file to windows hard drive, you’ll need to install an antivirus compatible to linux operating system that you are using and you will have to scan your windows hard drive with it. This time, I think it should detect the naughty virus from your windows hard drive. Remove it from your hard drive and shut down your computer. Start your computer again after removing the USB drive/CD.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">I hope all your problems get solved by following the steps mentioned in Part 1 and Part 2. If still you are not able to do so or if you are stuck anywhere in between, you can freely comment. I’ll try to answer as soon as possible.</div><div align="justify"><br />
</div><div align="justify">Good Luck!</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-51596111351091268342010-09-02T01:03:00.001-07:002010-09-05T22:40:43.789-07:00How do I start Windows if it does not boot normally? - (Part 1)<div align="justify"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TH9aMwvC1FI/AAAAAAAAAPg/PYkRXywunsI/s1600-h/HowTos%5B3%5D.png"><img align="right" alt="HowTos" border="0" height="69" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/TH9aWu_vXCI/AAAAAAAAAPk/gW0etLy-tbw/HowTos_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="HowTos" width="240" /></a></div><div align="justify"><a href="http://dixplore.blogspot.com/2010/09/how-do-i-start-windows-if-it-does-not_03.html" target="_blank"><strong>If you cannot boot into safe mode, then click here.</strong></a><strong></strong></div><div align="justify"><strong>This post is for those whose computer is not able to boot safe mode.</strong></div><div align="justify">In most of the cases, when Windows refuse to boot, the reason is driver conflicts. This can happen if you have installed a new driver, altered an existing driver or incorrectly configured a device. A virus may also cause a driver conflict by corrupting driver files.</div><div align="justify">First of all, disconnect all non-default peripherals connected to your computer. I highly recommend that you only keep monitor/LCD, mouse and keyboard connected to your computer. You can connect speakers as well.</div><div align="justify">Now start your computer and when the BIOS screen passes, press F8 repeatedly till Windows Startup options appear. Select ‘safe mode’ to boot into ‘safe mode’.</div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div align="justify">If this succeeds and your computer boots up, then it means that there is a hardware conflict or maybe a virus problem. Now, go to Start>Run and type 'msconfig', press OK. Make sure that General tab is selected. If you're using your computer since long time and if you have been using a lot of softwares, then 'Selective Startup' radio button should be checked. ‘Selective startup’ means that along with usual windows programs, selected installed applications (which did not came default with windows) are launched. So, now go ahead and check the 'Diagnostic Startup' radio button. This loads basic drivers required during windows boot. If there's a software or external hardware conflict then this should work. Press OK and restart your computer. This time, do not press any button and if everything was good, then your windows should start automatically. Then, somebody thought about the idea of using joystick and so, people started messing with joysticks to enjoy their favorite game. Later, light gun, game pad, throttle quadrant, pedals and steering wheels were invented to immerse the player in the game. In past few years, touch screen has taken over the market and so, there are tonnes of games available on iStore that people really love to play. And today, Sony has introduced PlayStation Move – A revolutionary game controller that would completely immerse the player into the game. </div><div align="justify">Currently, this awesome device is being made available only to PlayStation 3 but however, in future, a PC version might be introduced.</div><a name='more'></a><br />
<div align="center"><em>Take a look at the video below</em> <br />

It consists of a handheld motion controller wand (right), navigation controller (left) and PlayStation eye camera. The camera detects the position of the wand while the inertial sensors in the wand detect the motion. With this combination, the player feels as if he’s totally immersed in the game. The inertial sensors also keep track of the amount of force applied and speed at which controller is being moved or waived. These sensors are similar to those used in Apple iPhone 4.</div><div align="justify">I think that the navigation controller does not contain any sensors but it is only meant for navigating the menus of your PlayStation.</div><div align="justify">By revealing the device to public, Sony has made it’s intentions of competing Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360 clear to serious gamers. Now, I’m not going much into the technical specifications of the device but this device is going to be great for those who play action, adventure and sport games on their PlayStation. For action games, you’ll actually punch your opponent and the great part is, the harder you punch, harder will the opponent get hit in the game. For sport games, you will actually aim and shoot at your target which sounds great to me.</div><div align="justify">This great device is expected to be launched in mid of September 2010.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">For more, visit http://dixplore.blogspot.com</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01688492256865700444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1519743906344830985.post-26368209815516088942010-08-31T11:14:00.001-07:002010-08-31T22:00:05.471-07:00Into the World of video game consolesHello Readers!<br />

Rounded glass buttons are very famous and if you are a windows user, then you might be seeing it already in the form of Windows Start Button. However, this is just a basic tutorial which will teach you to make a basic round glass button.<br />
So, lets get started!<br />
<ol><li>First of all, start Adobe Photoshop and create a new canvas by selecting File>New… </li>
<li>In the dialog that appears next, make sure that the height and width that you selected are of same size. For the purpose of this tutorial, I have selected 500 pixels are 500 pixels. You can select any size of your choice but larger is more better and crisp. I have also selected RGB color as 16-bit because PNG format is available for 16-bit images. PNG format allows you to export your image with a transparent background so that you don’t have to camouflage your button in the given background. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOfKELVVI/AAAAAAAAAM4/dYloJDMwShY/s1600-h/image5.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="150" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOhfd8WvI/AAAAAAAAAM8/mD5NqcqXKMk/image_thumb1.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /><br />
<a name='more'></a></a> </li>
<li>Now, make a circle filling your canvas using Ellipse Tool. Hold down shift while dragging to make a perfect circle. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOjw0UmhI/AAAAAAAAANA/AuL3CLeeZ6M/s1600-h/image8.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="162" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOl8AhO-I/AAAAAAAAANE/uQISeaKjrWs/image_thumb2.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOn7CIN7I/AAAAAAAAANI/BRehX4w0KwM/s1600-h/image12.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="161" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOpXgTjjI/AAAAAAAAANM/sNHautwgO1U/image_thumb41.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="161" /></a> </li>
<li>Now that the circle has been created, choose your foreground and background colors to match the gradient you want on your circle. I am going to make a violet gradient on my circle, so, select lighter color of gradient as foreground and darker color of gradient on background. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOqn5gYzI/AAAAAAAAANQ/MIje3mdhivE/s1600-h/image15.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="102" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOrxXXE2I/AAAAAAAAANU/SRGG4RsWxJ0/image_thumb5.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="66" /></a> </li>
<li>Now, select the layer named ‘Shape 1’, Right-click on it and select ‘Blending Options’. </li>
<li>In the dialog box that opens, click on ‘Gradient Overlay’ such that it gets checked and highlighted. In the right hand pane, select the gradient that you want, check ‘reverse’ to reverse the gradient colors. <br />
As in my previous post, you can use scale to scale your gradient to your choice. I recommend that you use Linear gradient style. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsOyBdsCKI/AAAAAAAAANY/mr3U42818GA/s1600-h/image2.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="182" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsO2B24boI/AAAAAAAAANc/cc7CuV3wx9Q/image_thumb.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Right-click the ‘Shape 1’ layer and select ‘Rasterize’. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsO3t2R9MI/AAAAAAAAANg/HBsdUNfoqv0/s1600-h/image51.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsO8OEjEHI/AAAAAAAAANk/feVsQe-wy14/image_thumb11.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="141" /></a> </li>
<li>Now, its time to make that small reflective effect that makes your button look like glass. Create a new layer by pressing Ctrl+Shift+N. Rename the layer to ‘reflection’. </li>
<li>Select the ‘Shape 1’ layer again and click on the Magic Wand tool. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsO-1IreYI/AAAAAAAAANo/ur2PHms50jY/s1600-h/image11.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="108" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPBBD_qWI/AAAAAAAAANs/iACwYQh06yQ/image_thumb3.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="187" /></a> </li>
<li>Make sure that its tolerance is set to 100. Tolerance is the number of shades of a color to be included in selection. Since we have a single shade, tolerance of 100 is enough for us. Also make sure that ‘Anti-alias’ and ‘Contagious’ both are selected. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPB06zuuI/AAAAAAAAANw/NXihgBhCCjg/s1600-h/image14.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="36" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPCplYG2I/AAAAAAAAAN0/qyVc1kKu5fQ/image_thumb4.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Now, click center of your button gradient such that it gets selected automatically. Make sure that the entire round figure gets selected.. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPDUx1rQI/AAAAAAAAAN4/z5hvJbAUjJo/s1600-h/image17.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPEcAvtLI/AAAAAAAAAN8/J06fMxq5tt8/image_thumb51.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Now select round marquee tool. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPFP1H2vI/AAAAAAAAAOA/i26F9nBZ4co/s1600-h/image20.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="98" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPGjcu4tI/AAAAAAAAAOE/YyrA0dqSvm8/image_thumb6.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Now, make sure that mode has been set to intersect and feather is 0 px with anti-alias checked. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPHMQA61I/AAAAAAAAAOI/rzvn1F7SqJA/s1600-h/image23.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="27" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPIO8AmiI/AAAAAAAAAOM/DmhH3dOidww/image_thumb7.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Draw your reflective curve in free form such that arc passes through center of your circle. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPJNfVyoI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/Qbb6qd8Z0u4/s1600-h/image26.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPKn1RLKI/AAAAAAAAAOU/KCRchVQ94Hk/image_thumb8.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Now, select layer ‘reflection’ and set your foreground color to white. Click on the gradient tool and select gradient as ‘Foreground to Transparent’ and draw your gradient from bottom to top. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPMflYITI/AAAAAAAAAOY/0y90CxtgUqk/s1600-h/image35.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="33" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPOiM8PpI/AAAAAAAAAOc/N6AloR4JxyA/image_thumb11%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPPaktolI/AAAAAAAAAOg/L6H1emfQXWo/s1600-h/image32.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPQBam60I/AAAAAAAAAOk/pR8hE1EpB40/image_thumb10.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Your image should look something like this. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPQqf7gnI/AAAAAAAAAOo/TWVWOWS_6pU/s1600-h/image38.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPRcnTFuI/AAAAAAAAAOs/NWzGK6Ua24s/image_thumb12.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Set the opacity of layer ‘reflection’ to 10% and press Ctrl+D to deselect your selection. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPR9qnZrI/AAAAAAAAAOw/R_gGj5_XI2g/s1600-h/image41.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPT5qVmEI/AAAAAAAAAO0/F5rGfElgFT4/image_thumb13.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>But if you had selected ‘Radial’ gradient in step 6, then your final result would be following… <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPVKy6_TI/AAAAAAAAAO4/AVE8YB8QR4A/s1600-h/image44.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPWNVc7_I/AAAAAAAAAO8/k9LW3w3u-VQ/image_thumb14.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Last thing that remains in the shadow because it adds final touch to your glass effect. For that, right click ‘Shape 1’ layer and select ‘Blending Options’. Click on ‘Drop Shadow’ option such that it gets selected. Now adjust ‘DIstance’ to 4 px, ‘Spread’ to 10% and ‘Size’ to 10 px. Also make sure that you have set the opacity to 94%. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPXOL_zBI/AAAAAAAAAPA/zkai6ZaPF8A/s1600-h/image3%5B1%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="182" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPX0uyE5I/AAAAAAAAAPE/2g7ZNC8dA2o/image_thumb1%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>
<li>Your shadow might now be fully visible. For that, select Move tool. Click on ‘Shape 1’ layer. You should see dotted line around your circle. Adjust its size so that the shadow fits inside. You should hold on ‘Shift’ key if you want your image to be perfectly in shape (preserve aspect ratio). <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPZOip8iI/AAAAAAAAAPI/TNTy1sX0Csc/s1600-h/image6.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPaAELaXI/AAAAAAAAAPM/zH-RnPdrgK4/image_thumb2%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="243" /></a> </li>
<li>For radial gradient type, your image should finally look something like this… <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPcNAHMKI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/j-OloQ2o9dc/s1600-h/image9%5B1%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THsPdB2VfXI/AAAAAAAAAPU/UIqETWfQj8U/image_thumb3%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> </li>

Making glass buttons in Adobe Photoshop CS4 is very easy. In this tutorial, I am going to teach you to make rectangle or square button with rounded edges and glass effect. So, Lets Begin…!<br />
<ol><li>First of all, go to File>New. Then set your canvas size and resolution but make sure that the background contents are transparent and color mode is 16 bit or lower (for PNG file types). I prefer PNG file type because in PNG, you have the ability to keep background transparent while in JPEG and other file types, your file is forced to have at least one background color. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWv8P_YenI/AAAAAAAAAKw/IGRCYsNR3l4/s1600-h/image%5B2%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="150" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWv9JoMMxI/AAAAAAAAAK0/H_MlTBEcui0/image_thumb.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /><br />
<a name='more'></a></a></li>
<li>Then hold down mouse button on tool located on the right of Direct Selection Tool and select Rounded Rectangle Tool from the pop-up menu. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWv-dScPNI/AAAAAAAAAK4/VLTYju2aAZA/s1600-h/image%5B5%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="165" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWv-ymaQPI/AAAAAAAAAK8/Ni0mhzbhZnA/image_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a></li>
<li>Set the radius of rounded corners. Increasing its value will increase the roundedness of corners. For the purpose of this tutorial, I’ve set it to 25 px. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWv_3s2pcI/AAAAAAAAALA/JPhlOy454G8/s1600-h/image%5B11%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="66" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwAoVXz2I/AAAAAAAAALE/K0X5Ji1bHO8/image_thumb%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="226" /></a></li>
<li>Draw your rounded rectangle on your canvas. Since my canvas is square, I’ve drawn a rounded square. You can draw either rectangle or square depending on the shape of your canvas.</li>
<li>Since the drawn shape is a vector mask, you cannot directly apply gradient to it. But for the glass effect to work, gradients are necessary. So, lets apply gradients indirectly. Decide the colors that you want to have in your gradient and select your foreground and background colors accordingly. For example, if you want to have your gradient from navy blue to blue, then select foreground color as blue and background color as navy blue.</li>
<li>Right click on your Shape1 layer and select Blending Options. <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwBnTZ3-I/AAAAAAAAALI/eyWIMQYb8GE/s1600-h/image%5B14%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="244" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwCe11sAI/AAAAAAAAALM/5OG1PfwtwmA/image_thumb%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="138" /></a></li>
<li>From the dialog box, click on Gradient Options (make sure that a check is also made after you click) and make the following changes: <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwDToC1iI/AAAAAAAAALQ/0_l--ssr1tM/s1600-h/image%5B17%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="182" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwENigyGI/AAAAAAAAALU/0OLWKJiWMSM/image_thumb%5B5%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a> <br />
TIP: If you want your shape to be flat along Z-Axis, then select linear gradient but if you want your gradient to be rounded along Z-Axis, then select radial. Since, I want to make my gradient rounded along Z-axis, I have selected radial gradient. Adjust the scale till you get your desired gradient. After you are satisfied with your settings, click OK.</li>
<li>Right click your shape1 layer and select ‘Rasterize Layer’.</li>
<li>Create new layer by pressing Ctrl+Shift+N. Click OK in the dialog box that opens.</li>
<li>From the toolbox, select Magic Wand tool and set its tolerance to 100.</li>
<li>Click on your gradient. It should display animated dotted lines along the border of your shape. <br />

<li>Draw an ellipse but make sure that it passes through the centre of your rounded rectangle/square. For this, I recommend you start drawing it from outside the canvas and draw it through the canvas. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwKHkZNSI/AAAAAAAAALw/MitvCsHejK4/s1600-h/image%5B29%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="244" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwK6ASf6I/AAAAAAAAAL0/0bkDT89oK-I/image_thumb%5B9%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a></li>
<li>If the intersection mode is selected, then it should display a shape like this: <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwLyPfPYI/AAAAAAAAAL4/QWdNXKfkVAc/s1600-h/image%5B32%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="244" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwMgRPmsI/AAAAAAAAAL8/FtZ8u61QVPE/image_thumb%5B10%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a></li>
<li>Now, select the paint bucket tool. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwNkbKWII/AAAAAAAAAMA/cTf3Cj92eWA/s1600-h/image%5B38%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="110" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwOdbtRpI/AAAAAAAAAME/6qawuhSN2Vo/image_thumb%5B12%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="236" /></a></li>
<li>Set your foreground color to white. Click on the gradient, inside the shape formed by dotted lines. White color will get filled as below. Press Ctrl+D to deselect your selection. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwPqYE9PI/AAAAAAAAAMI/vLndw6qDd0I/s1600-h/image%5B41%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="150" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwQo_hp-I/AAAAAAAAAMM/54pabjegTxU/image_thumb%5B13%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a></li>
<li>Now, making sure that the selected layer is the newly formed layer (not rounded rectangle one), set its opacity to 15%. However, you can adjust the opacity till you find that perfect glass curve. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwRMtodYI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/WKKOp2oo9EQ/s1600-h/image%5B44%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="160" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwR8QwoQI/AAAAAAAAAMU/EZLbaNFXO2U/image_thumb%5B14%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a></li>
<li>In this image, a shadow is missing. For this, select the ‘Shape1’ layer, right click it and select ‘Blending Options’. Now, click on the Drop Shadow item (make sure that a check is also made after you click). From options pane, increase opacity, distance and size. Click OK. <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwS5adw_I/AAAAAAAAAMY/xQI9N-nkHJ4/s1600-h/image%5B56%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="182" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwTvl_ddI/AAAAAAAAAMc/z_Tdr1U2E7s/image_thumb%5B18%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="244" /></a></li>
<li>Your final image should look something like this: <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwUWAogiI/AAAAAAAAAMg/faCsBcKDf-Y/s1600-h/image%5B53%5D.png"><img alt="image" border="0" class="wlDisabledImage" height="244" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_24PdevsDxYc/THWwVMB209I/AAAAAAAAAMk/a9O7EJL_Am0/image_thumb%5B17%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px;" title="image" width="243" /></a></li>
<li>Now, if you want to type text or something else, make sure that the text layer is below the whitish layer of glass (layer1).</li>
<li>If you want to preserve the transparency, export the file to PNG or else, export it to file type of your wish. Go to File>Save as, choose the location where you want to save your file and select file type of your choice from the drop down. Click OK. For PNGs to work well, select ‘None’ instead of ‘Interlaced’ in the next dialog that appears.</li>
